Background

Project Introduction

Trucking Research in China is a project carried out in cooperation between Volvo Group Trucks Technology, Tongji University, Sino Finnish Centre and Chalmers University of Technology.

 

The project's overall objective has been to explore the possibilities for introducing new solutions, services or products in the Chinese long haul transportation market and thereby increase customer loyalty and brand value for the Volvo Group.

 

The aim of the research is to gain an understanding of the long haul transportation system in China today and identify current needs and challenges.

Project Process

The research was divided into three main parts: Collect Data, Organize & Analyze and finally Visualize & Communicate. The research has mainly been field research, supported by some
online research.

Every year one million new trucks are sold in China, putting one million new truck drivers on the road. Volvo Trucks has a very deep understanding of drivers & owners of trucks in the West, but there is a need for better understanding of the situation in China. In order to create the products and services of the future, Volvo Group Trucks Technology has initiated this design research together with Tongji University.

BORARD GAME DESIGN

In this studio, we decided to make use of some old materials for the purpose of accomplishing our design.I supposed our movies should be expressed with the combination of dream and reality. In my opinion, reflections of environmental protection might draw attention from our audience. We also set some details in our scenes which implied concepts of environmental protection. The most difficult thing for us was
how to use the current material to express every scene. For instance, we want to show the process of melting glaciers. We tried foam, white cloth and paper napkin and finally decided to choose the paper napkin because the soft texture
 of it can be easily moved and shaped。

 

This game combines many of the diplomacy, historical events in the 20th and 21st centuries. Carefully participating in the game can learn a lot of  knowledge of national flags, architectural style, diplomatic events and national human appearances. This game is only for people over the age of 15, and as a mental game, requires high intelligence of players.

 

Design advantages:

▪ Negotiation mechanism is made to exercise eloquence  and strategizing
 ▪ The game is filled with courage and
   persitance, as well as contingencies
  (such as incentive and punitive events)
▪  Game props can be folded, thus they can be easily stored and have   high portability
